Winning video for The American Pet Products Association‘s non-profit public awareness campaign, Pets Add Life received the 2012 “Best Viral Video” Strategic Video Award for its “Pet Interviews: Guinea Pig” video.
“We are so excited to receive this award,” Bob Vetere, president and CEO of APPA. “Our main goal with the ‘Pet Interviews’ video series and the campaign as a whole is to promote multiple pet ownership and we could not be happier to see what a huge success the series has become.”
The Strategic Video Awards were created for companies and organizations that use video to communicate for corporations, associations, non-profits, public institutions, colleges and universities, PR firms and ad agencies, and custom publishers. Video submissions are judged by expert practitioners and are evaluated based on how thoroughly they have met communication objectives. One winner, along with honorable mentions, is awarded in each category.
Featuring “talking” animals in a series of videos to help promote multiple pet ownership, PAL’s ‘Pet Interviews’ videos are produced by the creator of the wildly popular ‘Ultimate Dog Tease’ YouTube hit, Andrew Grantham. Grantham’s videos have received more than 100 million views and were named No. 2 on YouTube’s Top 10 videos of 2011.
Founded by APPA, the non-profit PAL campaign is designed to demonstrate the joys and benefits of responsible pet ownership and encourage increased animal adoption.

ASPCA Names The Animal Foundation a Participant in The Carroll Petrie Foundation Dog Rescue Project
New program will help thousands of dogs and puppies find loving homes
through relocation from overcrowded shelters
LAS VEGAS, NEV. — The Animal Foundation today announced that it has been selected by the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) to participate in The Carroll Petrie Foundation Dog Rescue Project, a new $1 million initiative that will fund much-needed treatments and services for shelter dogs and puppies at municipal animal sheltering organizations, ultimately preparing them for transport from overcrowded shelters to give them the best chance of finding permanent, loving homes. The project is being made possible thanks to a generous donation from Mrs. Carroll Petrie, a respected international philanthropist.
“We are so excited to be selected as a Petrie Foundation participant,” said Christine Robinson, Executive Director of The Animal Foundation. “The funds we receive will go a long way in finding animals who have ended up in our care through no fault of their own their forever homes.”
The Animal Foundation will use funds from the Petrie Foundation Dog Rescue Project to expand its rescue department and ultimately place more animals with its local and regional rescue partners. In 2012, The Animal Foundation placed 1,776 dogs with rescue partners (a more than 19% increase over 2011), and plans to increase placements in 2013 with assistance from the Petrie Foundation.
The ASPCA, through The Carroll Petrie Foundation Dog Rescue Project, aims to save 16,600 dogs through a per dog or puppy subsidy for each animal transferred out through the following types of programs:
• Transfer to rescue groups;
• Transfer to other shelters;
• Adoptions through “Foster Adoption Ambassador” programs; or
• Adoptions through permanent off-site partner locations.
The subsidy per dog or puppy can be used for anything from crates and gasoline purchases for transport vehicles to “make-ready” veterinary services for the dogs (i.e. spay/neuter, health certificates, vaccines) that will prepare them to leave the shelter. The subsidy will only apply to lives saved above and beyond each participating groups previous year’s numbers.
For more information about The Animal Foundation, please visit www.animalfoundation.com. To provide a temporary home for an animal not yet ready to be adopted, consider becoming a foster parent. Email Register to see e-mail address for more information.

Donated linens are used to make the animals more comfortable and to keep the young and underweight animals warm.

Additionally, once an item has been torn, it cannot be used again. Items with stuffing (comforters, pillows, dog beds, etc.) can only be used once as they cannot be completely disinfected.
Linens can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily at the shelter. For more information, visit animalfoundation.com.
